The City-Only Email: Why Every Member Now Hears About Every Pocket Listing
Since last week, every member of the network gets a short email the moment any agent posts a pocket listing. It says the city. It does not say the street, the price, the bedrooms or the agent’s name. Those are inside, for members only, one tap away. This brief explains why the email is built that way, what to do in the five minutes after it lands, and how it fits with the two emails you already know.
What arrives
The subject line reads New pocket listing opportunity in Dana Point, or Newport Beach, or whichever city the agent chose. The body is three sentences and one button. Press the button and, if you are signed in, you are on the listing itself: address, price, photos, the agent’s cell. If you are not signed in, you sign in and land on the same page. If the property has already moved on, you land on a short page that says so and points you to the agent.
Why only the city
Two reasons, and both are deliberate. First, the agent who posted the property chose to share it with a network of licensed agents, not with everyone who forwards an email. Keeping the details inside keeps that promise. Second, a Friday Roundup is a summary; this email is a nudge. It is meant to get you back on the network while the listing is fresh, when the agent who posted it is still waiting to hear from you, not to replace the visit.
The five minutes after it lands
- Open the listing. Read the whole post, not just the price. Agents write down what matters: the view, the lot, the tenant situation, the timing.
- Check your own buyers. If one fits, call or text the listing agent directly, one to one. Their cell is on the page. That is the entire mechanism, and it is the reason the network exists.
- Do not post your own property in reply. If you are holding something in the same city, post it as its own pocket listing. The moment you do, the network checks it against every live buyer need and emails you about every agent whose buyer fits. Replying to someone else’s listing with yours helps nobody.
- Write the buyer down. If a buyer of yours was close but not quite, post the buyer need. From then on every pocket listing posted anywhere on the network is checked against it and you get an email about every match, without waiting for the next city-only email.
How it fits with the other two
You now hear from the network in three ways, and each does a different job. A Match Alert is personal: it comes only when a pocket listing fits a buyer need you posted, and it carries the details because the fit has already been made. The Friday Roundup is the week in one place: every pocket listing posted by the agent who holds it, six buyer needs to call, rates and the Orange County median. The city-only email sits between them: every pocket, the day it is posted, with just enough to make you look. Right now 4 pocket listings posted by their agents are live on the network and 110 buyer needs are waiting for them.
If you would rather not
The last line of every city-only email is a one-tap link that stops them. It does not touch your Match Alerts or the Friday Roundup, and there is a one-tap link to turn them back on from the Match Alerts page. One member asked for this email, by the way: she said she would never want a text about a pocket listing but would always want the email. So it was built, and it is on for everyone who joins.
The network is free for licensed agents, permanently. 932 verified agents are on it today, 18 of them joined in the last 30 days, and the Facebook community it grew out of is 2,600 agents strong.
